Infancy: Give Your Baby a Strong Start!

Infancy is a unique time for learning & growing.  Experiences during this time of children’s lives have a profound impact on what they become as an individual in the future.  They need to have personal attention and emotional connection with adults and other children.  They need to be stimulated and allowed to explore the world around them.  They need to be in a safe environment where they feel comfortable.  When all of these elements are present, Infants are put in a position where they can gain a healthy curiosity and truly explore the world around them.  Each element plays a key part in shaping the individuals each infant becomes.  In the end all we want for our children is success.  In the beginning we must give them the foundation that leads to it.

Curriculum

Daily learning experiences are such fun!  It is amazing to see the growth that comes from hands-on exploration.  Our Infant Center teaching staff uses a blend of curriculum to create a well rounded, enriching program.  We combine a NAEYC accredited curriculum called “Bright Babies” with our teaching staff’s individually crafted activities to really target each child’s learning capabilities.

Bright Baby: Experiences for Infants by High Reach Learning

Baby’s first year is an exciting time with lots of exploration and discovery. Research shows experiences that involve sensory and motor investigations and engage infants in social interactions build brain connections.

Each multisensory Bright Baby Kit actively engages and stimulates infants through social interactions: talking, playing, moving, singing, reading, and signing.

Activities are integrated across all domains of infant development – physical, emotional, social, and intellectual – and develop a wide variety of skills, including:

  • Language acquisition

  • Sense of self

  • Sensory awareness

  • Gross motor skills

  • And more!

Personal Touches: Tailored Learning Experiences

Each child learns at his or her own rate.  The best way for our teachers to guide and encourage each child is to take time and personalize daily activities to ensure they are geared to the specific children enrolled.  This is a key component in the overall goal of our program: Partnering with parents to take advantage of the learning and growth opportunities presented throughout infancy and make the most of it.

The curriculum written by teachers is reviewed & assessed by our Assistant Director on a weekly basis to ensure that teachers are doing their best as educators.

Environment

With the help of the Idaho STARS Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) we were able to have our program assessed in June 2010 by a Certified Early Childhood Environment Assessor.  What the assessor found is that the daily interactions in our center are top notch!  As part of the QRIS our center will be receiving a grant to add elements into the daily environment that are specially designed for infant learning.  Items such as soft climbers, musical instruments, ergonomically designed tables & high chairs, and child sized pretend-play furniture.

Part of the right environment means having the right amount of care & attention to go around!  Our Infant Center Child-to Staff ratios are as follows:

Children Under 1 year

3:1 Ratio

Children over 1 year

4:1 Ratio

One-on-one time with each child is the component that makes the biggest difference to their long-term development.  Our low ratios ensure that each baby receives the personalized care they must have to support their needs & early growth.
